Shopping connects us with millions of people across the world who produce the things we buy and use every day. But not everyone gets a fair deal. Many farmers in developing countries, who grow crops like cocoa, coffee, tea and bananas don't earnThe money that farmers get for crops like cocoa, coffee, tea and bananas changes each day because of the world market. But the money that farmers get paid is often below what it costs the farmer to grow the crop. enough to pay for the things that we take for granted like access to clean water, medicines and a child's education.

FAIRTRADE MARK

Ask for Fairtrade products with this Mark.

When you spot this Mark The Fairtrade Mark is given out by an independent organisation called the Fairtrade Foundation. They only give it to products which meet a set of standards, for more information visit www.fairtrade.org.uk on a product, you can be sure that farmers or workers in the developing world who helped to make the product were paid a fair price and worked in decent conditions. There are now over 700 products on sale in the UK with the Fairtrade Mark from fruit to footballs, and of course your favourites Dubble and Divine.

Sometimes you have to pay a little bit extra for Fairtrade products, but it’s worth it to know that farmers are getting a fair deal. A little bit extra goes a long way.
