As well as getting a fair price for their cocoa, Kuapa Kokoo A co-operative of over 45 000 farmers in Ghana, West Africa. are also shareholders Shareholders are the owners of a business. They have a say in how a business is run, and earn money if the business makes profit. Because Kuapa Kokoo owns Divine Chocolate Ltd, Dubble and Divine chocolate will always have the interests of cocoa farmers at heart. in the the company that makes Dubble and Divine chocolate – Divine Chocolate Ltd.
Divine Chocolate Ltd is the first farmer-owned chocolate company in the UK. Now cocoa farmers in Ghana have a say in how their chocolate is produced and sold in the UK and a share in the profits. There is more profit to be made from selling chocolate rather than a raw commodity like cocoa.
In 1998 the Divine Chocolate bar was launched. Then, in 2000, Comic Relief joined forces with Divine Chocolate Ltd to make the first Fairtrade product for young people – Dubble!

In addition the international NGO Christian Aid also own preference shares and the leading UK charity Comic Relief enthusiastically support the company and are also partners in the Dubble Fairtrade chocolate bar.
